The Akra Collection was created by designer Samuray Martins to encourage Brazilian handicrafts by creating a sustainable practice that benefits small communities in the Northeast of Brazil. The objects are made of leaves from one of the largest palms found in the area, the Buriti. The practice is an old tradition in Brazil and the project brings socio economic benefits to remote areas in the country.
